22 March 2022

Anglian Water is celebrating today after being awarded “Utility of the Year” for the second time at the Utility Week awards last night in London. The water company also scooped the ‘Team of the Year’ award for their Integrated Metering and Developer Services alliance with delivery partners Kier and Clancy.

The judges praised Anglian Water’s continued hard work over the last 12 months for not only delivering their vital services to customers throughout the pandemic, but also completing £448 million of capital investment, launching their net zero agenda, including their detailed routemap to 2030; distributing a £1m Positive Difference Fund to help local communities throughout the pandemic and securing £300 million of accelerated investment in environmental programmes in the region.

Anglian’s ambitious plans continue with the delivery of their biggest ever infrastructure programme, innovating to deliver long-term water resilience to the region through the creation of hundreds of kilometres of new strategic interconnecting pipelines.

The judging panel said “Anglian Water demonstrated consistent excellence in all its core areas and is notably pushing the envelope on environmental matters and development of innovative approaches to sustainable business operations.”

Peter Simpson, Chief Executive of Anglian Water said following the win, “I am incredibly proud Anglian has been named Utility of the Year for a second time. I believe it reflects not only our leadership in things like leakage reduction and environmental protection, but also that we never stop looking for new ways to keep pushing the frontier.

“This award is testament to each and every one of our staff, partners and suppliers who have worked tirelessly over the last year to deliver first-class service to our customers. Their commitment never faltered despite the massive challenges we’ve all faced throughout the pandemic – and that makes me incredibly proud.”
